With people living longer and longer, the world of fashion is tapping into the ever-growing older market. In classic modelling there is also no age limit and from the age for 35 and up there is potential to earn an extra income or even begin a new career in modelling at a later stage in life.
Classic models such as Twiggy and older male models seen in advertising campaigns for major fashion houses are a testament to the fact that modelling for mature men and women is may be set to take the industry by storm. There is a growing demand for classic models due to the variety of opportunities available for commercial and print advertising for products and fashion that are specifically aimed at the older market. However, there are still far fewer classic models who find paying work than younger models.
The requirements in classic modelling are for much the same as other types of modelling, being attractive with a healthy, toned body, good skin and hair, and of course a great personality is a must in classic modelling.

How do I maintain a healthy body and mind in a highly competitive industry?
It is a challenge to keep this balance when it seems you are being judged by others all the time. Try to find some balance in your life by keeping in touch with friends who are not in the 'industry', and spending time on other activities. Having interests outside of modelling will help too. Being self critical, judging yourself harshly, or paying too much attention to the opinions of others can all get you down. Think about how you could help be positive towards other people- giving them compliments, or encouragement because what goes around comes around too.
