Mischa Barton places great importance on experimenting with fashion.
The actress-turned-designer – who has launched her own range of handbags – believes it is necessary to take risks when choosing outfits, as this process will help you discover your own sense of style.
She said: ‘I style myself and I don’t always get it right, but that’s half the fun – you have to experiment to get your own look. It’s not worth getting upset about. Be yourself and wear something that embodies your own sense of style.’
The 24-year-old beauty works hard to select her own wardrobe and believes it is important to look to others for ideas, while understanding you might not always get it right.
She told more! magazine: ‘I am inspired by Marianne Faithfull, Vivienne Westwood and Anita Pallenberg. I also think Pixie Geldof has cute style.
‘I like to have fun with fashion and make it my own. I like to try new shapes – sometimes it works, sometimes not, but it’s always fun trying, which is what fashion is all about!’

Michelle Obama loves eating burgers and fries.
The US First Lady – wife of President Barack Obama – has launched a campaign to help tackle childhood obesity in America but admits she’s partial to the odd bit of junk food.
The mother-of-two said: ‘I would move heaven and earth to give my kids all the chance in the world for them to be at the top of their game in every way, shape and form.
‘I love burgers and fries. And I love ice cream and cake. And so do most kids. But We’re not talking about a lifestyle that excludes all that.’
So she has got involved with the Let’s Move initiative, which aims to teach youngsters to increase their daily exercise as well as pushing for schools to offer healthier meals and food companies to give more accurate nutritional information on the labels.
She said: ‘Let’s Move operates under the principle that every family wants the same thing for their kid. So we’re going to figure out how to make it easier for them to get it.
‘The question is how do we help people balance that out so that they’re not facing life-threatening, preventable illnesses, but they’re enjoying their food, they’re eating their vegetables, they’re doing their running and walking and playing and still have time to get a good, fun meal in every once in a while

Diane von Furstenberg is a huge fan of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s fashion lines.
The designer – who is regarded as the fashion world’s ‘Fairy Godmother’ – opened the doors for the twin siblings to start creating clothes and even though many of the industry’s big names objected, Diane has since been proven right.
Diane – who is president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America – said: ‘When I became president I wanted to create a support group for designers – young or old.
‘Mary-Kate and Ashley take their fashion very seriously. I was very surprised when I saw their line. It’s very impressive.’
The actresses ranges, The Row and Elizabeth + James, have become huge hits and many celebrities can be seen in the more upmarket The Row.
Diane wants to give help to up-and-coming because she wants them to learn from her mistakes.
She told Britain’s Grazia magazine: ‘I had a big success very young. But I wasn’t prepared for it. I made mistakes.’
In the 80s, Diane was a victim of the recession but successfully staged her comeback in the 90s
