Ann-Sofie Back’s celebrity inspiration

Ann-Sofie Back is inspired by celebrities.
The Swedish-born designer admits she gets her ideas from unusual places, but finds normal sources of influence hard to grasp.
She said: “It’s interesting that we are so obsessed with celebrities.
“I find it hard to be inspired by nature or seventeenth century art, but this is something that has inspired me.
“Newspapers and magazines that give people a tick or a cross for their dress, that’s great inspiration. Personally, I find it hard to talk about what’s hot or not because it makes one feel slightly dumb.”
Ann-Sofie, who will be showing at London Fashion Week on February 20, also revealed her career began when a Jean Paul Gaultier shop opened in Stockholm.
She told the Independent newspaper: “My parents were really bad dressers with no real interest in art of culture, so fashion was the best way to rebel.
“My fanatical interest started when the Junior Gaultier shop opened in Stockholm; I worked nights at a hotdog stand to fund my obsession.”
