Rachel Bilson insists she doesn’t use a stylist and loves experimenting with her look.

Rachel Bilson loves experimenting with her look.
The stunning actress says she doesn’t rely on the help of a stylist when she goes to red-carpet events as she puts her outfits together herself and doesn’t always stick to the rules.
She said: ‘I really dress myself. I’ve been known to put a necklace in my hair. That’s what getting dressed should be. It’s about fun and experimenting. I think you either enjoy it or you don’t – and I do.’
The beauty was speaking at the Ann Taylor fashion show last week and was impressed with what she saw.
She said: ‘The shoes and the purses are amazing. You can add them to a plain outfit to add a little pop. That’s what’s great about Ann Taylor -you can incorporate it into your own wardrobe.’
However, Rachel admits she is a hoarder and holds on to her clothes for longer than she should.
The 28-year-old star told People magazine: ‘I have a problem, in that I hold on to things that I’ve had since I was 13-years-old . . . So, yes, I probably should get rid of some stuff.’

Stella McCartney has designed two exclusive charity T-shirts for her Meat Free Monday campaign, which will be available in certain London Gap stores.

Stella McCartney has designed two exclusive charity T-shirts.
The fashion designer created the tops – which will be available in certain London stores as part of her second collection for Gap Kids – to help raise awareness for her environmental campaign, Meat Free Monday.
The strict vegetarian said: ‘MFM (Meat Free Monday) is about us all taking control of the environment we live in for our kids and the generations to come. Whether you eat meat or not, you can be part of this decision to limit the meat industry destroying our planet’s resources.’
MFM was started by Stella along with her photographer sister Mary and her father, Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney, and aims to raise awareness of the climate changing impact of meat production and consumption.
The T-shirts, which are printed on organic cotton, feature a superhero for a boy and Stella’s signature Intarsia leopard for a girl.
The mother-of-three recently revealed she thinks the fashion world is finally embracing ethical practices, something she has been doing for years.
She said: ‘I hope everyone else is catching up, but I’m also learning all the time, so I think I’m constantly changing and the brand is constantly changing. I think that’s part of being a modern brand, you have to react to the environment you are living in, as much as the industry you are working in.’

Emma Watson believes the miserable British weather helps inspire designers because they want colourful creations to make up for it.
Emma Watson believes the miserable British weather helps inspire designers.
The ‘Harry Potter‘ actress – who is currently living in the US as she studies at Brown University – says the lack of sunshine means designers want to use bright colours and are more innovative with their creations.
She told WWD: ‘It’s so funny because now that I’m in America, I’m more able to define it. Before I didn’t have an awareness of another style. I think British style has to do with the weather. We have terrible weather. It’s very gray and drizzly so we need things to cheer us up. And I think that leads to a lot of creativity and colour, and I think that’s why our designers are so innovative. We have great vintage and we love to mix and match: high street and high fashion, vintage…and I think that really defines it as well.’
While many British designers use the rain as their inspiration, Emma recently revealed her own clothing range was based around summer outfits she would wear.
The 20-year-old beauty – who helped create clothes for ethical label People Tree – said: ‘I went through my summer wardrobe and thought, ‘If I filtered this so that it was just the very basics, what would I want to keep?’ The answer was cotton vests, easy T-shirt dresses, nice scarves to accessorise with and some lovely linen pieces. For the boys’ range I’ve done hoodies, which I know they’ll love. The clothes are very British, which is why we shot the campaign in an English country garden – it’s all very strawberries and cream and tennis.’

Madonna admits she would like her 13-year-old daughter Lourdes to dress more conservatively.

Madonna wants her daughter to dress more conservatively.
The ‘4 Minutes‘ singer – who has collaborated with her eldest child, 13-year-old Lourdes, on a new children’s fashion line called Material Girl – admits she isn’t always happy with the teenager’s fashion choices but would never tell her what to wear.
Madonna – who is known for her sexy and controversial outfits – said: ‘If anything, I wish she’d dress more conservatively. How’s that for irony?
‘She is inspired by kids she sees in hip-hop and ballet classes, European influences, bands she listens to. You could say it’s in the DNA – but I could never tell her how to dress! She also comes to my photo and video shoots, pulls outfits together and gives her input to a lot of my fashion designer friends. Whether it’s Marc Jacobs or Stella McCartney, they always ask her what she thinks.’
Despite collaborating with her daughter on the fashion range, the 51-year-old star – who also has sons Rocco, nine, and David, five, and daughter Mercy, five – admits she has left the bulk of the work to Lourdes.
She added to Us Weekly magazine: ‘I did a line for H&M, which I enjoyed, but it was a lot of work. I thought, I don’t want to give up the rest of my career, so I’m not going to do my own line again. But I have a 13-year-old with tireless energy who wanted to do this. I’ve been involved in business meetings, but Lola’s really doing the work. I just sit in the corner on my BlackBerry!’

Jean Paul Gaultier is to be given the Inspiration Award at the AmfAR benefit in June for his contribution to men’s fashion and his help in the fight against AIDS.

Jean Paul Gaultier is to be given the Inspiration Award at the AmfAR benefit in June.
The designer will be honoured for his contribution to men’s fashion and his help in the fight against AIDS at the New York ‘Inspiration Gala’ on June 3, which will be hosted by Kylie Minogue.
The cocktail and dinner event at Manhattan’s Public Library will include a catwalk presentation, which will be based around the gala’s theme – Black Tie/Black Leather menswear.
Guests will be asked to dress accordingly and the gala will also feature a special musical performance from a secret act.
Although Gaultier is being honoured for his men’s fashion, he recently revealed he felt he owed a lot of his success to using ‘real’ women in his catwalk shows as other females can relate to them.
The 57-year-old Frenchman said: ‘The fashion press could not understand it. But I say, ‘Why not?’ It is what inspires me. I don’t like to be safe. I use what I see. There is no point in me sitting here in my couture house and not knowing what is going on out there. You have to be aware of what is going on in the street.’

Peaches Geldof has been ditched as the face of underwear range Ultimo following the release of pictures of her engaged in an alleged romp with a man known only as Ben.

Peaches Geldof has been sacked by underwear range Ultimo.
The 21-year-old blonde star – the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof – has been dropped by the company after naked pictures of her were posted on the internet of her semi-naked and allegedly engaging in a heroin-fuelled romp with a man known only as Ben.
A spokesperson for Ultimo claimed to have ‘no option’ but to let her go.
The spokesperson said: ‘We have been in meetings all morning with regards to the stories that have surfaced over the weekend about Peaches and unfortunately we have no option but to terminate her contract.
‘Miss Ultimo is a brand geared towards a young female audience and as a company we have a social responsibility to ensure we are promoting only positive role models that young women can aspire to.’
The spokesperson also revealed pictures of Peaches in their stores and concessions would be removed as soon as possible
They added: ‘We are thus in the process of removing Peaches from the website and we are working with Debenhams to remove her visuals from all Miss Ultimo shops and window displays throughout the UK.’
Michelle Mone, creator of Miss Ultimo, insisted it was ‘impossible’ for Peaches to continue in the role.
She said: ‘We’ve given this a lot of thought, but there’s a point where a business must stick to its principles and as a brand that targets young women, we feel it is impossible for Peaches to continue to work with us as the face of Miss Ultimo lingerie.’
Peaches has remained silent since the photos surfaced, although her lawyer insists she was not taking any drugs and had only consumed alcohol.
Her lawyer said: ‘The allegations that our client was carrying and injecting heroin are also denied, our client having consumed alcohol with the other individual leading to the ‘highs’ described and portrayed in the photographs.’

Stella McCartney’s latest collection for Gap Kids was inspired by her childhood as she wanted the line to be colourful, complete with different fabrics and prints.

Stella McCartney’s latest kidswear collection was inspired by her childhood.
The fashion designer – daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda – recently launched her second range for Gap Kids and wanted the line to be colourful, complete with different fabrics and prints.
She said: ‘For me this collection is all about mixing and matching. I guess that is how I was brought up. When I was little like this, my parents just shoved stuff onto us. I had some nice French clothes, but it wasn’t at all considered. I wasn’t a pristine kid.’
The range includes a fish-print summer dress, crocheted tops, skinny jeans, an embroidered pale blue cowboy shirt and glow-in-the-dark pyjamas.
But the mother-of-three was keen to make sure they were clothes children could wear time and time again without parents worrying whether they would get ruined.
She told the Sunday Telegraph: ‘There is no excuse for bad colours. And there is no reason why a fabric shouldn’t have the softest touch, especially when you are doing children’s wear. Fabrics need to wear well – there is no point saying to a child they can only wear this once, or that they need to behave when wearing it.’

Alexander McQueen’s ashes will be scattered in the Isle of Skye.

Alexander McQueen's Skye ashes
Although the fashion designer – who died last month at the age of 40 after committing suicide in his London home – was born in the UK capital, he regarded the Scottish island as his ancestral home and told his family he wanted it to be his final resting place.
His brother said: ‘Alexander was back and forward all over the world but he felt at home when he was in Scotland.’
His father Ronald and five siblings will travel to the island in the next few weeks to fulfil his wishes
Alexander often paid homage to his Scottish roots with one of his most famous collections, Highland Rape, being inspired by the Highland clearances and when he collected his CBE in 2003 he wore his full Highland dress.
Last month, Alexander’s funeral took place at St Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge, London, where mourners paid their final respects to the designer.
Some of the biggest names in fashion, including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Stella McCartney, attended the private ceremony.
Bouquets of flowers, which included lilies and white roses, were delivered to the church ahead of the service, which was also attended by McQueen’s father and his five children.
McQueen – real name Lee – was discovered hanged in a wardrobe at his London home by his cleaner on the eve of his beloved mother’s funeral on 11 February.
An inquest into his death was told he left a suicide note for his loved ones, which is believed to have been found at the scene.
