BNTM 7 | Britain’s Next Top Model 7 | Application
Britain’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 has just gotten started, beginning this month on LIVING on Mondays at 9pm, and there is already interest in BNTM cycle 7!
The sixth season of the hugely popular Britain’s Next Top Model reality TV show has got the summer of 2010 off to a spectacular start with the return of the glitzy and glamorous British counterpart to Tyra Banks’ America’s Next Top Model. Tremendous hype and media attention surrounded the show’s early-July premiere as promises of a bigger and better show were confirmed by the announcement of the fantastic new judging panel. Headed up by the gorgeous Elle Macpherson, the new judges include fashion designer extraordinaire, Julien MacDonald, award-winning stylist, Grace Woodward and top male model, Charley Speed. The judges have already proven their fashion mettle by whittling the number of gorgeous contestants down to a mere 14.
This season’s contestants are equally feisty and fabulous and have the makings to be highly entertaining , more so than they have been already! With risqué lingerie shoots, shocking eliminations and plenty of tears already in the bag, the show is definitely living up to its hype. All of the drama and gruelling work may not seem worth it to some of you, but to those with dreams of modelling greatness, the prospect of a £million modelling contract with super modelling agency, Models1, a cosmetics contract with Revlon and a cover shoot for Company magazine is enough to endure catty remarks from the judges and the endless hours of teetering around in stilettos!
With so many amazing changes to the show this season, we can only imagine what 2011 will have in store for Britain’s Next Top Model. Bigger and better prizes? More amazing fashion and photo shoots? More drama? Well, we hope so!
No plans for BNTM 7 have been announced yet but we can only imagine the fabulousness of it all when it eventually hits our screens! Any hopeful models have some time to brush up on their posing, pouting and strutting before the application process for BNTM 7 begins next summer.
To apply for series 7 you will need to go to www.livingtv.co.uk at the end of June 2011. But if you tune into series 6 on LIVING this summer there will be full details on how to apply for Cycle 7 of Britain’s Next Top Model.

BNTM 6 | Britain’s Next Top Model 2010 , 2011
Britain’s Next Top Model is a British reality show in which a number of women compete for the title of Britain’s Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modelling industry. The series is based on the hit American TV show America’s Next Top Model, created and hosted by supermodel mogul Tyra Banks. In early 2010 it was announced that model Elle Macpherson would be the new host and head judge. In the new cycle she will be accompanied on the judging panel by top British fashion designer, Julien MacDonald; fashion stylist of the year 2009, Grace Woodward and Charley Speed, a top male model.
The concept of the Britain’s Next Top Model is to find the next ‘it’ girl from the thousands of hopefuls that turn up for the audition. The show has become a massive hit in Britain, with more and more girls who dream of supermodel stardom hoping to make their big break into the industry. Britain’s Next Top Model sees the chosen few models living and working together, which undoubtedly brings about a great deal of drama to the show , one of the reasons many viewers tune in! However, the core message of the show is how to be the best model possible. The judges and industry experts who work with the would-be models teach them everything they will need to know to be successful in the modelling industry and what it takes to make it big.
In each episode, the models are trained in a particular area of modelling, such as dealing with the press in interviews, selling a commercial product, appearing in a runway show or attending go sees. Contestants may get coached in runway walking, improvisational acting, or applying make-up to suit various occasions. A related challenge follows, such as a mock runway show or interview. Each of these lessons is true to life and mimics what a real working model deals with on a day-to-day basis. Although each episode deals with vital lessons for any aspiring model, the most important factor is always how the model performs in a photo shoot , which is what she is ultimately judged on.
A model’s primary job is to sell a product and the most common way this is done in the modelling world is through photography. If a model does not take an amazing photo that inspires the viewer to rush out and buy the product, essentially, the model is failing to fulfil the job requirements, hence the reason why so much emphasis is placed on the photo shoot segments. The models on Britain’s Next Top Model are given pointers on how to pose, walk and act in order for them to be able to take the best photograph possible , and get them one step closer to being a Top Model.
The advice imparted on to the hopeful contestants of Britain’s Next Top Model are modelling pearls of wisdom that could help any aspiring model on their path to making a break in the modelling industry. For those who cannot benefit from the expertise on the show, Model Advice, in association with Britain’s Next Top Model, offers a premium modelling advice Celebrity Workshop to anyone looking to start modelling. Spend a day with top industry experts – including former catwalk model Michele Paradise, a previous guest judge on Britain’s Next Top Model; Jennie Tillotson, the Queen of Etiquette and Antonia Burrell, a leading skin-care specialist, as they share the essential lessons they have learned over their impressive careers.

Today is all about education guys. I am going to give you some of the nuggets of wisdom that I have picked up here at Model Advice. This one is for you aspiring glamour models, you can thank me later. xoxo
Glamour modelling is an extremely competitive business, especially in the UK. There are an endless number of young girls who dream of being the next ‘it’ girl in men’s magazines such as FHM or Sports Illustrated, or want to enjoy an illustrious career such as Jordan, aka Katie Price. However many glamour models, such as those seen on page 3 or in Playboy Magazine, are unable to endure in the business as long as Jordan, and their fame burns out before it ever really got going. Glamour modelling is an incredibly competitive business , possibly more so than any other type of modelling, and thus requires models to not only have a great look but also a sheer extraordinary personality and the professional attitude to help them stand out in the crowd of young hopefuls.
Glamour agencies look for models with a photogenic face, a good figure and a professional attitude. In the UK, you have to be over 18 years of age to be able to be a glamour model. Photographers will not even consider working with someone younger than that. This is for the own safety of the models to make sure that they are fully consensual and in control, and can avoid being exploited or taken advantage of. However, this also means that glamour models get a later start in their careers than in other types of modelling. Fashion models are preferred to be younger than 18 as their career will most probably end by their early twenties. The same is the case with glamour modelling. Therefore, anybody who wants to get into glamour modelling must understand beforehand that the lifespan of a glamour model is no more than a few years, unless one hits it very big or is able to cross over into an acting career.
As the market is so saturated, a glamour model that is in high demand for a couple of years may fade into relative obscurity once a new batch of fresh faces enter the scene. Those that do manage to maintain their glamour modelling careers for a more significant amount of time are those that have marketed themselves extremely well and adapted to the changing trends of the market, and in doing so have planted themselves firmly in the public’s collective psyche.
