BNTM 6 |Britain’s Next Top Model 2010 – 2011

BNTM 6 |  Britain’s Next Top Model 2010 , 2011

Britain’s Next Top Model is a British reality show in which a number of women compete for the title of Britain’s Next Top Model and a chance to start their career in the modelling industry. The series is based on the hit American TV show America’s Next Top Model, created and hosted by supermodel mogul Tyra Banks. In early 2010 it was announced that model Elle Macpherson would be the new host and head judge. In the new cycle she will be accompanied on the judging panel by top British fashion designer, Julien MacDonald; fashion stylist of the year 2009, Grace Woodward and Charley Speed, a top male model.

The concept of the Britain’s Next Top Model is to find the next ‘it’ girl from the thousands of hopefuls that turn up for the audition. The show has become a massive hit in Britain, with more and more girls who dream of supermodel stardom hoping to make their big break into the industry. Britain’s Next Top Model sees the chosen few models living and working together, which undoubtedly brings about a great deal of drama to the show , one of the reasons many viewers tune in! However, the core message of the show is how to be the best model possible. The judges and industry experts who work with the would-be models teach them everything they will need to know to be successful in the modelling industry and what it takes to make it big.

In each episode, the models are trained in a particular area of modelling, such as dealing with the press in interviews, selling a commercial product, appearing in a runway show or attending go sees. Contestants may get coached in runway walking, improvisational acting, or applying make-up to suit various occasions. A related challenge follows, such as a mock runway show or interview. Each of these lessons is true to life and mimics what a real working model deals with on a day-to-day basis. Although each episode deals with vital lessons for any aspiring model, the most important factor is always how the model performs in a photo shoot , which is what she is ultimately judged on.

A model’s primary job is to sell a product and the most common way this is done in the modelling world is through photography. If a model does not take an amazing photo that inspires the viewer to rush out and buy the product, essentially, the model is failing to fulfil the job requirements, hence the reason why so much emphasis is placed on the photo shoot segments. The models on Britain’s Next Top Model are given pointers on how to pose, walk and act in order for them to be able to take the best photograph possible , and get them one step closer to being a Top Model.

The advice imparted on to the hopeful contestants of Britain’s Next Top Model are modelling pearls of wisdom that could help any aspiring model on their path to making a break in the modelling industry. For those who cannot benefit from the expertise on the show, Model Advice, in association with Britain’s Next Top Model, offers a premium modelling advice Celebrity Workshop to anyone looking to start modelling.
