Angelina Jolie refused to buy an Akris ecru horsehair handbag until she had checked about the background of the horses used in it.

The 34-year-old actress, who is well known for her global charity work, was concerned about their welfare and had her stylist call up Akris to check about their treatment.
However, Akris designer Albert Kriemler confirmed she had nothing to worry about when she purchased the bag, which is made from the tails of horses.
He said: ‘We told her horses get haircuts just like we do.’
Angelina was recently seen with the bag, which retails for just shy of $5,000.
One of the world’s most glamorous women, Angelina is often seen as a fashion icon – although in a list of the best dressed women of 2009 she only managed to come in 15, beaten by Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Diane Krueger.
Alexa Chung topped the list of best dressed celebrities, compiled by Vogue magazine.
Angelina began her career as a fashion model before moving into music videos, starring in the likes of Lenny Kratviz’s ‘Stand by My Woman‘ and Meat Loaf’s ‘Rock and roll Dreams Come True‘.

Pixie Lott is a huge fan of Alexa Chung’s style.

The ‘Mama Do‘ singer admires the TV presenter’s quirky take on fashion and is desperate to buy the Mulberry bag named after the brunette beauty.
She said: ‘I really like what Alexa Chung wears. Those Mulberry bags named after Alexa are wicked – I don’t have one but I’m going to invest.’
Pixie also likes Sienna Miller’s fashion sense and was impressed with her latest collection for her label Twenty8Twelve, which she owns with sister Savannah.
She said: ‘Sienna Miller always looks good. I went to the Twenty8Twelve fashion show and the clothes were gorgeous.’
The 19-year-old beauty is known for her blonde locks and although she recently donned a dark wig for her ‘Gravity‘ music video, she would never become a permanent brunette.
She said: ‘It was really fun wearing that wig and I wore it out one night. But I definitely think I suit and prefer being blonde because that’s what I’ve grown up being and think it’s more me.’

Alexa Chung’s debut clothing collection has been unveiled.
The British TV presenter, who currently spends much of her time in New York, unveiled her first range of clothes with US store Madewell.
Commenting on the designs, the 26-year-old beauty said: ‘Madewell’s vision is kind of the same as mine.
‘They like laid back styles, they like kind of relaxed clothes – classic, timeless things. So when they asked to collaborate, it was a perfect fit.’
The collection had a heavy 60s influence with tea dresses, denim, high waisted skirts and velvet.
She also insisted on bringing some British style to the assortment with the pairing of socks and sandals.
However, Alexa was not so sure if another collection was in the works.
She said: ‘We haven’t really discussed another one yet but it would be amazing to do. We’ll see how this goes.’
Meanwhile, at New York Fashion Week, various designers have taken to the catwalk including Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, DKNY and Thakoon.
Overriding trends include large jackets, coloured tights and men’s tailoring.

Alexa Chung Model Advice Blog
Alexa Chung was ‘scarred’ by wearing the wrong kind of denim as a youngster.
The British TV presenter – who is currently working with the US store J. Crew to create her own fashion range, inspired by her personal style – says the fabric was a staple material in her wardrobe, but sometimes even she got it wrong.
Recalling her childhood, she told Britain’s Vogue magazine: ‘The Levi’s brand back then was so in touch with youth culture that it was hard to believe it hadn’t been created in a laboratory by a collective of style bloggers. Even being in the Levi’s store was like stepping on to exotic American soil, which is silly, because we were in Guildford.
‘And if you strayed from that brand, you were mocked. I still recall my hapless attempt to wear an outgrown pair of black Gap jeans, leaving me branded and scarred by the nickname Drainpipes for an entire miserable summer.’
Despite being a style icon, Alexa, 26, has realised that sometimes what looks good on the catwalk won’t work in real life.
She said: ‘I recently tried to work the denim jacket/denim jeans thing, having been inspired by the Spring D+G and Herve Leger shows, but realised once I left the house that it’s an outfit better suited to runways or stadium stages, neither of which I frequent.’
Alexa’s fashion range will mimic her own wardrobe, which will include dungaree dresses, high-waisted skinny jeans, polka dot tea dresses and oversized wool jackets.
